Into the Twilight

Twilight

A twilight falls upon my future turning black
I’ve come so far that I’m unable to turn back
Amidst these shapes of grey,
I wander and I pray that the

Twilight turns to day before too long
I pray that I can find my way the sun is gone

And as I wander over unfamiliar ground
I get no answers from the half light all around
I know my eyes deceive
I wish I could believe that the

Twilight turns to day before too long
I pray that I can find my way the sun is gone

Is it the last time that I’ll see the light of day
These silhouettes of black against a sky of grey
Passing by
Perfect strangers all around
I don’t know where I’m bound, no!

And as I wander over unfamiliar ground
I get no answers from the half light all around
I know my eyes deceive
I wish I could believe that the
Twilight turns to day before too long
I pray that I can find my way the sun is gone

I pray the twilight turns to day before too long
I pray that I can find my way the sun is gone

I pray the twilight turns to day
I can find my way
Twilight turns to day before too long
Before too long

You Were Right, Mr. Spock

An instinct for philosophy among your noblest traits,
An ability to gracefully engage any debate.
It must be so frustrating when you ply your wisdom here
Where whoever yells the loudest always gets the loudest cheer

They say that you’re unfeeling ‘cause they’ve never seen you cry,
But you care more than all of them although your eyes are dry
And while their hearts are bleeding, saying someone else should pay,
You work on the answer, then you quietly save the day,

You were right, Mr. Spock, about everything you said,
We humans just aren’t logical, too crazy in the head.
We abandon reason and emotion rules instead
And all we get is misery; liberty is dead

They call you isolationist when you say no to war,
Even though they cannot tell you what they’re fighting for.
You point out those who start them hide out safely from the fray
Making money off the suckers who are forced to die or pay.

You were right, Mr. Spock, about everything you said,
We humans just aren’t logical, too crazy in the head.
We’d rather fight in burning houses, laying cities low
And squander hard-earned fortunes instead of watch them grow

And do you ever feel like giving up?
Do you ever wonder why?
You cast your pearls before such mindless swine,
Sometimes it must be hard to try

Everything you warned about has come to lay us low
It must be hard to not just smile and say “I told you so.”
But will we ever listen, will your logic have its day?
Or will we stay on self-destruct no matter what you say?

You were right, Mr. Spock, it’s a fact we’d better face,
If we’re to ever going to find a way to save this human race.
But when it seems like every hope is sinking like a stone,
Remember that no matter what, you’re really not alone.

You were right, Mr. Spock
You were right, Mr. Spock
You were right, Mr. Spock
You were right, Mr. Spock

Sometimes

Most days I drag my heels I wait for night to fall
It doesn’t matter what the world looks like at all
I’ve got myself to worry about, shit but don’t we all?
And just like everyone my world is oh so small (but sometimes I)

Sometimes I hear the sound of a thousand voices
I hear them calling out to me
Sometimes I see myself as a part of something
Sometimes I realize my eyes can see

Most days I hurry just to get to work by nine
I’d like to change things but I just can’t find the time
The house, the car, the kids, there’s so much on my mind
I’d like to help you but I just can’t spare a dime (but sometimes I)

Sometimes I hear the sound of a thousand voices
I hear them calling out to me
Sometimes I see myself as a part of something
Sometimes I realize my eyes can see

Most days I don’t believe in what I find
Dissatisfaction’s nothing new
But then there’s always something I can hide behind
Just say there’s nothing I can do (but sometimes I)

Sometimes I hear the sound of a thousand voices
I hear them calling out to me
Sometimes I see myself as a part of something
Sometimes I realize my eyes can see

Sometimes I hear the sound of the thunder clapping
I see the lightning in the sky
Sometimes I see myself as a part of something
Sometimes I stop to wonder why

Somtimes, yeah
Sometimes, yeah

Sometimes

It’s Not Enough

You never say what’s on your mind
But don’t think that I don’t know, baby, I’m not blind
I’d have to be some kind of fool not to realize
That even when you say your love for me is true
No matter what I say, no matter what I do

It’s not enough

The same old ups and downs, you know, I never learn
One minute you run cold, baby, then you burn
I’d have to be some kind of fool not to realize
That even when you say your love for me is true
No matter what I say, no matter what I do

It’s not enough
It’s not enough that I did it for love
It’s not enough
It’s not enough that I did it for love
It’s not enough

And now you come around saying you were wrong
You say you’ve changed your ways, but it won’t be long
I’d have to be some kind of fool to believe your lies
That even when you say your love for me is true
I’ve heard it all before this line is nothing new

It’s not enough
It’s not enough just to say that you love me
It’s not enough
It’s not enough just to say that you love me

It’s not enough just to say that you love me

It’s not enough just to say that you love me
It’s not enough just to say that you love me
It’s not enough just to say that you love me
It’s not enough just to say that you love me

The Old Ones

The familiar touch of a steady hand
The stories told of a distant land
I was too young then to understand
What was said to me

So here we are in this changing time
A renaissance times ninety-nine
Where will we look for our faith to find
When the old ones are gone

A hundred years of joy and sorrow
Where then did it lead,
Beyond the memories?
And all the tears we cry tomorrow
And all the hope and fear
Will lead us right back here, I know

A trembling voice and a failing eye
A window through to and age gone by
And a wisdom that I can only try
Now to understand

A quiet piece as the end draws near
A faith too strong to succumb to fear
What will become of us left down here
When the old ones are gone?

A hundred years of joy and sorrow
Where then did it lead,
Beyond the memories
And all the tears we cry tomorrow
And all the hope and fear
Will lead us right back here, I know

And so much is lost that we’ll never see
But one thing they left up to you and me
To keep their promise of love
Now that the old ones are gone

To keep their promise of love
Now that the old ones are gone
To keep their promise of love
Now that the old ones are gone

Invisible Hand

Everybody wants to change the world,
There’s so much that they want to do.
They tell us all we’ve got to get together
But I wonder if they’ve thought that through.
They say a central plan is what we need
To overcome all this thoughtless greed.

All for one and one for all,
We have to have a single mind.
They say we can’t pursue our separate interests
If we don’t want people left behind.
I’m here to tell you that it just ain’t true.
We help each other when we don’t mean to.

That’s what we call the invisible hand,
Something no politician understands.
Leave it up to supply and demand
And follow the golden rule.

There’s no such thing as a “common good.”
Everybody’s got a different way
To figure out what will make them happy.
It’s not for someone else to say.
That’s ok, you can leave them be.
They’ll help more people if they’re just set free.

That’s what we called the invisible hand,
Long before Summers, Friedman, Keynes or Rand.
No economic program ever planned
Comes close to the good it can do.

What I’m telling you is nothing new;
It just isn’t what you want to hear.
But free your mind from thinking red or blue;
Let go of all that instilled fear

Don’t believe so-called “public servants
‘Cause they’re all out for themselves, too.
Anything they take from someone else,
They also take away from you.
Don’t believe them; there ain’t nothing free,
You’re better off with your liberty.

Just leave it up to the invisible hand,
There’s no better way to serve your fellow man.
Trade in peace and at no one’s command,
See that your rulers fall,
That’s what will save us all.

Just leave it up to the invisible hand
Just leave it up to the invisible hand
Just leave it up to the invisible hand
Just leave it up to the invisible hand

The Rain Must Fall

Clouds take their own time in dissipating
Rivers choose the course in which they flow
Time will make it’s way and it’s not waiting
The sun will rise and set; these things we know

But still you wonder why
You cannot change the tide but still you try

Tell me what the rain’s supposed to do
Why do you complain the way you do?
You’re building up a wall you can’t see through (it’ll fall on you)
Tell me what the rain’s supposed to do
The rain must fall

You say the hand of fate has finally found you
You blame misfortune on the break of day
Building up your walls of earth around you
The rain will surely come and wash away

But still you wonder why
You curse and shake your fist against the sky

Tell me what the rain’s supposed to do
Why do you complain the way you do?
You’re building up a wall you can’t see through (it’ll fall on you)
Tell me what the rain’s supposed to do
The rain must fall

The future’s in your hands but you don’t see it
The truth is plain as day, you don’t know
You ask me how to keep from falling
You hold the rope, don’t let it go

Tell me what the rain’s supposed to do
Why do you complain the way you do?
You’re building up a wall you can’t see through (it’ll fall on you)
Tell me what the rain’s supposed to do

Tell me, tell me, yeah, tell me what the rain’s supposed to do
Tell me, tell me, yeah, tell me now
Tell me, tell me, yeah, tell me what the rain’s supposed to do
Tell me, tell me, yeah, tell me now

Not in Love

These are not feelings I know
You say it’s love but I know that isn’t so
Love is a feeling I’ve had
I know that love never hurt me this bad
Don’t tell me ‘cause you’ve made me sad

I’m not in love
Don’t tell me it’s so
I’m not in love,
I want you to know
That when you hold me at night
You do not thrill me the way you think you might
And when you have gone away
You have not hurt me the way I heard you say
Oh no,

You think your kiss is so sweet
You give me shivers every time we meet
But though a fool I may be
I’ve learned the game and before long you’ll see
You’re losing your hold over me

I’m not in love
Don’t tell me it’s so
I’m not in love,
I want you to know
That when you hold me at night
You do not thrill me the way you think you might
And when you have gone away
You have not hurt me the way I heard you say
Oh no,

I’m not in love
Don’t tell me it’s so
I’m not in love
I want you to know
I’m not in love
Don’t tell me it’s so
I’m not in love
I want you to know

How Could I Think?

There’s no better girl for show that a man could find
Yes you know how to play the role with control sublime
Yes you move with a grace and style
But I see past the guarded smile

How could I think about love with a girl like you?

It may be true that you and I happened by design
And you say that I always knew where you drew the line
Well it’s a fool then that I must be
Well I look but refuse to see

How could I think about love with a girl like you? (a girl like you)

With a girl like you (a girl like you)
With a girl like you (a girl like you)
With a girl like you (a girl like you)

How could I think about it
Never doubt it at all?
How could I think about it
Never doubt in you?

How could I think about love?

It may be true that you and I happened by design
And you say that I always knew where you drew the line
Well it’s a fool then that I must be
Well I look but refuse to see

How could I think about love with a girl like you? (a girl like you)

With a girl like you (a girl like you)
With a girl like you (a girl like you)
With a girl like you

Lie By Me

I don’t want your love
You’ll never need be true
But all you’ve got to do is give me your body ‘til the night is through

You’ll never get my ring
You’ll never get my word
But what I’ve got to give will make you live and that’s assured

Lie by me until the night is through
Lie by me it’s all that you can do

Lie by me until the night is through
Lie by me it’s all that you can do

I don’t want your love
You’ll never need be true
But all you’ve got to do is give me your body ‘til the night is through

Lie by me until the night is through
Lie by me it’s all that you can do
Lie by me until the night is through
Lie by me it’s all that you can do
